
An amalgam of realism and dystopia, this photographs form a metaphorical tapestry that allows to uncover the aftermath of Albanian recent history.
In this project called “Prush nën hirin e ri” photography presents itself as a record, memory trace, and cultural repository. The scenario is the massive factory of iron and steel called “Kombinati Metalurgjik” located in Elbasan, in the center of Albania.
It was the most ambitious project that was undertaken by the regime of Enver Hoxha for the industrialization of the country. Reincarnating now in a sort of social container that seeks to understand the effects of a shattered illusion, a theater of memories and intimacy that is outlined through personal stories and the evocation of collective visual memory promoted by communist propaganda.
